![]() ![]() It was a frustration that almost ended the experience entirely. Numerous times throughout my original playthrough of Observer, I would become a hopeless victim of convoluted stealth segments and infuriating glitches or crashes. Gameplay and performance wise, Observer: System Redux is a different kind of beast to its predecessor. Every new scenario is interesting and visually impressive providing some serious eye candy that would even make David Lynch nod with approval. As a horror gamer, who wouldn’t want to experience that? Bloober Team realizes this and relishes every moment of it. With every use of The Dream Eater, we are thrust headfirst into nightmarish scenarios that exist solely to disorientate and disturb. Trippy visuals an d psychological puzzles have become a signature of Bloober Team in recent years and Observer: System Redux showcases why. Truthfully, investigation was Observer’s greatest strength and here it has only been amplified with some great new content too. The new side missions never outstay their welcome and one particular side mission was extremely impressive visually, evoking vibrant cinematic masterpieces like Suspiria. Investigation in Observer: System Redux is never dull and this time around Bloober Team have added several new optional side missions for good measure. Equipped with a device named The Dream Eater, Daniel has the ability to hack into civilian minds in an effort to piece this mystery together providing some deliciously surreal hallucinatory encounters as Daniel begins to lose his grip on reality. ![]() Just like the 2017 rendition of Bloober Team’s psychological horror, Observer: System Redux has you assume the role of private detective, Daniel Lazarski (played by the late Rutger Hauer), working for a special police unit in Krakow as he attempts to uncover the murder of his son, Adam, and several other residents of a connected lower-class tenement building. Four years on and Bloober Team have capitalized on the release of next generation consoles in an attempt to rework Observer and right the (minor) wrongs of its previous edition. Layers Of Fear was an impressive shift into the world of horror gaming but it was undoubtedly 2017’s Observer that laid the foundation for Bloober Team’s unusual psychological horror focus.Īt initial release, Observer was considered Bloober’s Team’s strongest outing, but it wasn’t without its fair share of issues and criticisms with the majority of these being aimed at Observer’s stealth segments and focus on style over substance. This was no simple feat for an indie developer that, before Layers Of Fear, mainly dedicated their focus to action, strategy and puzzle games. After garnering strong positive reception from fans and critics, 2016’s Layers Of Fear confidently placed Bloober Team among the shortlist of upcoming indie developers to keep a close, creepy eye on. Poland’s Bloober Team are making quite a name for themselves among horror gaming obsessives as of late. ![]() ![]() Provides tools for all types of users, from beginners to advanced. ![]() ![]() Once Chara manages to "reform" Papyrus, he seemingly refuses to fight anymore. Papyrus gets tired much faster in his fight as a result of using more powerful attacks. This fight is similar to the boss fight in UnderSwap, only more brutal, harder and deadlier. He hates how they keep being nice and waits at the Judgement Hall. In the True Pacifist timeline, Papyrus keeps an eye on Chara. Papyrus and Sans have an rather abusive relationship, due to Sans constantly abusing Papyrus and treating him like trash. He'll make sure Chara, now Frisk, will burn in hell. He doesn't give a damn about most of the other monsters. He only fights Chara because of his brother. However, he now hates Chara MORE than he did when she was Pacifist, for killing his brother (Sans). He knew Chara might do this at some point. In the Genocide Timeline, Papyrus isn't as surprised. He hated how Chara keeps being nice and waits at the Judgement Hall. In the True Pacifist Timeline, Papyrus keeps an eye on Chara. He also can recall the times that Chara resets and saves. Fans had high hopes that the updates implemented in Part 2 would make their way into the Part 1 Remake, but unfortunately, that isn’t quite the case.įor those unaware, The Last of Us is set twenty years after a major virus outbreak, where many humans have either died or been infected with a fungal mutation which turns them into zombie-type creatures. ![]() Gripes about the story aside – Part 2 was nearly universally praised for its upgraded combat mechanics, AI, graphics, and level structure. Now a few more years have passed, along with a sequel that many fans have a very strange love/hate relationship with. Sure, with a few years between playthroughs my rose-colored glasses had faded a bit and I was able to accept that there were a few flaws, namely in movement and combat, but even then, I still respected the game for the sheer experience I had unveiling the story for the first time. Years later I became obsessed again with the remaster, this time focusing more on the overwhelmingly tense multiplayer rather than the campaign, although I did run through the campaign a few times just to experience the resoundingly well-written story once again. The original blew me away when it was released and I completed the campaign more times than I can count, eventually obtaining the Platinum trophy after a grueling Grounded playthrough. Let me say that I am a huge fan of The Last of Us. So, which side was correct? Well, it’s a little of both. “Cash grab”, “unnecessary”, “pointless”, were just a few words thrown around by naysayers, while others were legitimately excited for a remake, hoping that some of the advances made for Part 2 would find their way to Part 1. A few years have passed, and the drama had finally died down – until The Last of Us: Part 1 was announced, a current gen remake of the original PS3 game, which itself had been remastered for the PS4, sending fans into a frenzy yet again. A lot has been said about The Last of Us as a series since Part 2 released, and while I won’t get into the unwarranted controversy that game drew, I will say that, without a doubt, TLOU: Part 2 was one of the best-looking games of last generation. ![]() ![]() It has a way to download audio and video from websites, quickly lock your screen, prevent your computer from going to sleep, and much more.

Clearly, we were in a minority in loving this track, as it failed to chart and she was subsequently dropped from her label, but we stand proudly by our choice. Getting the year off to a riproaring start was Nina Nesbitt, who announced her transformation from ever-so-slightly-dull folk songstress to raging electro ice queen with this banger, co-written with Preston from the Ordinary Boys no less. ![]() The tune itself was another fine example of the tougher, more beat-driven and militant Beyoncé 2.0 we’ve seen since 4. She goes hard, she’s a star, and she most certainly slays. And she did it in uncompromising style, with the February unveiling of Formation at the Super Bowl, a celebration of her black heritage, complete with Black Panther-inspired imagery. Beyonce – FormationĢ016 marked the year that Beyoncé finally went political. We imagine Gareth Bale played this before every match to get pumped up. And we think it’s no coincidence that this was the year that the Super Furries finally brought out their long-threatened football song which was a) very little to do with football, b) accompanied by a truly brilliant video and c) yet another example of the classic surrealism, married with an infuriatingly insistent groove and lyrical hook that the Furries do so well. Super Furry Animals – Bing BongĮverything went right for the Welsh this summer, as their football team – at their first major tournament since 1958, managed to reach the semi-finals of the Euros. A de la Rocha solo album has been in the works ever since Rage first split back in 2000 with only a few guest appearances and the One Day as a Lion EP in 2008 actually emerging. We couldn't have put it better ourselves. Ed Harcourt – FurnacesĮd Harcourt attracted a host of critical acclaim for his new album Furnaces, and rightly so, with our pick of the record being the title track - a gloriously dense, bluesy howl of anguish, with lyrics that dealt with themes of impending environmental disaster and the continual effort to 'keep the furnace burning'.
